This is the last vestige of “La Grande Rocca” that a thousand years ago was a symbol of the County of Nocera’s strenght (XI century a.d.) until it was destroyed by Frederick II’s troups in 1248.
“Piccola Rocca” was the home of the Trinci family until 1439 when it became the Council Seat.

The Civic tower is 30 metres high and the original entrance was a few metres higher than the door today and the recess is still visible. The arrow slits and large arches on top of the tower gave a commanding view not only of all Nocera’s territory but also over the whole country.
